In the 2009 the residents on District C, elected me to represent this great District. District C is the home of many great business and amazing residents. We are the home to Walmart, HEB, Target, Home Depot, Kohl’s and great family communities like First Colony subdivisions in Missouri City, Brightwater, Heritage Colony, Lake Colony, and my home Colony lakes.
The state of our District is strong, growing and yet we have so much more to do. I wanted to highlight a great accomplishment as it relates to sidewalks. As many of you know I am very passionate about infrastructure and sidewalks. It is with great pride that today many sidewalks have been repaired and or replaced. Parents can now use strollers to walk their kids, kids can ride their bikes to school, and families can enjoy the many amenities of our neighborhoods. Last night I invited Parks Board Member and Secretary/Committee member of the 2014 Infrastructure Bond Committee -Anthony Maroulis, to assess the improvements in Plantation Creek. Below are some recent photos of the work being done at Plantation Creek- which by the way were the recipients of the 2011 FCCA Neighborhood of the year. As you can see much needed repairs are being done but we have to continue this progress.
I want to thank each of you who contacted me to express your concerns on this issue. Your voice and your support empowered me to fight for more funding and as a result the budget for sidewalks was increased from 150k to 400k today. As we move forward into 2013 we need to continue to address infrastructure and Public Safety. For this reason I have appointed 4 key District C members to participate on the 2014 Bond committee. This team has a diverse background. The go beyond being a resident of District C, these individuals also serve on HOA boards, MUD Boards, commissions and other lead positions in some capacity with our great City. As a team we will continue to focus on infrastructure but we are also going to put an emphasis on Public Safety. We are very fortunate to have the best Police force in the business but we need more Officers, Detectives, technology and a motorcycle patrol team. With your support, your voice and this team we will be able to position ourselves for the future. Please stay engaged and voice your concerns, I can’t fight each battle without you. Lastly, I want to thank the City staff members for their leadership and making the improvements a priority. Please feel free to contact me and please share my Facebook page with others.
